His debut cd on Virgin Classics ( I have ) was atypical and courageous, an all - Nielsen recital of solo piano works,I think all of such works of Nielsen. May be at YT by now.Tough music to absorb, but after many years of repeated, very periodic hearings,I have now come to enjoy most of it.

Leif Ove Andsnes is a fixture in my collection with some of my favorite piano recordings. His Haydn and Rachmaninov are outstanding. If you want to get to know this artist, here's a 5-CD set selling for $9.99 on amazon. IMHO he's one of the finest pianists performing today.

Couldn't concur more. I have some 40 recordings by Andsnes … quite an array of music, very well recorded. Mostly EMI, Virgin, Koch, Simax and one on Hyperion with Hamelin. I had an opportunity to hear him in New York at the Mostly Mozart Festival playing a Beethoven concerto. We are truly blessed to have so many wonderful pianists before us on recordings.

He's up in the stratosphere of top pianists. The Grieg 'Lyric Pieces' are one of my very favourite recordings, but I have a bunch.
He played with the BPO a few weeks ago and was very impressive with Mozart's Piano Concerto No.22, k.482.
