My First Hans Heiling

Post by lennygoran » Mon Feb 03, 2020 5:19 pm

Very pleasant. I was disappointed at first-no captions which I was expecting appeared-still the singing, half-human, half-supernatural production and the opera's music made for a quite enjoyable experience c/o Amazon Prime. $3.99 and though I wanted the captions the plot was relatively easy to follow. Sure made me think of both Weber and Wagner. Regards, Len :)

Markus Werba, Anna Caterina Antonacci, Herbert Lippert, Gabriele Fontana, Cornelia Wulkopf, Nicola Ebau, Brian Garth Nickel, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari & Chorus, conductor Renato Palumbo. DVD, 26 July 2005. Dynamic 33467, UPC 675754849825

This is the first rental I've ordered that didn't have the captions-can you explain this to me-why and should you give me my money back for this? I relied upon your description of the DVD your selling?

Yuvarajan | Customer Service
The captions are based upon the content owner.

The content owner decides the addition of CC to the video.

If you wish, I can help you with the refund.
Y
9:11 AM
I think you should because I rely on the captions-on my watch list it should clearly state if there are captions or no captions

Yuvarajan | Customer Service
For confirmation, shall I cancel the order?
Y
9:14 AM
So you'll cancel the $3.99 charge-I do want to see other operas but only those that have captions.

Yuvarajan | Customer Service
Yes, I'll cancel the $4.25 charge.
Y
9:16 AM
I do appreciate this-I can't tell you how much better this very nice production would have been with captions.

Yuvarajan | Customer Service
I've successfully cancelled the order and issued full refund from my end.

Your refund will reflect to your original payment method in 3 to 5 business days.
Y
9:19 AM
Thanks-I'll end the chat now-my wife and I like Amazon very much-keep those operas coming in for rental

Yuvarajan | Customer Service
You're welcome.

I'll make sure to forward your concern with high priority.

Good job, Len! Whoever heard of watching an opera without English captions? :?

It's a shame you had to go through all that in order to get a refund!

Yikes ! I haven't heard this opera, although I've been aware of it for who knows ho long . I have a CD of Marschner's opera "Der Vampyr " with the late Helmut Froschauer conducting the Cologne radio orchestra and chorus . The cast includes the young Jonas Kaufmann before became an operatic superstar . It's rather fun .
There is also a filmed version of the opera sung in English but set in modern day London on youtube . The production is somewhat hokey but still a lot of fun . This is one of those DVD productions where the music is recorded by the cast, conductor and orchestra in the studio . The production was filmed at various locations in London .

Bob I'd love to see this opera in a traditional setting with captions. Regards, Len
