Hamelin's new Hyperion disc arrived: six Feinberg piano sonatas. Who is game? I haven't heard it yet myself. One wonders when Marc-André has the time to practice all this music, especially so much that is not terribly well known. Speaking of Hamelin, I wonder how many realize he has recorded Saint-Saens' "Egyptian" piano concerto (No. 5)? It wasn't for Hyperion. One of my favourite concertos.

I have the 2 earlier BIS cd's of the complete 12 Feinberg's, 2 different pianists. These works are worth getting to know, however Nos.1-6 are the most challenging for the listener, IMHO.May want to try a few at YT first, eg. # 3, # 6. Now I usually listen just to Nos. 7 - 12.
