Joaquin Turina, Piano Trio No.2,Op.76 (1933), Jon Kumara Parker, piano,Stephen Tavani, violin,Ronald Leonard, cello ( I believe the violinist and cellist were previously of the Tokyo Quartet). Heard first time last night, wonderful, this may be live as I have not found a recording:

( A brief work, ca.15 minutes , audio with score )

Wonderful work.Has anyone heard the composer's other 3 piano trios, care to comment on the other works or recordings ? Thanks !

I've owned, forever, a Calig CD of Turina's No. 1 & No.2, along with the later one: Círculo (1936). I have not heard the early Trio in F Major.

Among the welter of Turina recordings I have are three of his piano music, including the delightful Mujeres de Sevilla I and II.

Pianist Jordi Masó has done for Naxos about a dozen volumes of Turina piano pieces.

And I very much enjoy, and assume you know it too, his La oración del torero (The Bullfighter's Prayer) - lush in romantic impressionism. Stokowski liked to conduct this one.

Rach3, I was going to write to you about the Naxos [555870] of all of Turina's Trios but I see from another thread that you already have it! Good you could find after being around for 24 years! Also, I was going to mention the RCA #1 Trio w/Heifetz, Piatigorsky and Pennario. Another you may not know about is Chandos [9834] with the Bekova Trio, which includes #2 Trio and Circulo. I am unaware of the Callig one febnyc alludes to in his post. I haven't heard these trios in a long time. I think it's about time I do!
