Have now heard 131,Grosse Fugue,135, and "Cavatina" final mov. only of 130.These are usually the only of the Quartets I seek out ( very infrequently ), although did also listen now to slow movs. of 127,132.Will leave to the many knowledgeable here any comments. 135 is amazing ; a few suggestions of Dvorak in last movement.

Listened to the first CD of the set this morning, and came away persuaded and highly enthusiastic about the group. Their playing is exquisite, with just the right bounce for the Op. 18, and deep feeling for the later opus. My only quibble is that I like to hear the various opus numbers all together as a group, rather than jumping around chronologically just to satisfy the timing requirements of each individual CD.

I've got the Quartetto Itaiano, Tokyo, Guarneri and Takacs sets: this ranks with the best of those. Plan to listen more in the coming days to be sure, but I'll probably add this fine box to my collection. Thanks, Rach3, for posting this!

2 members of the Quartet discuss the recordings, getting together for the first time in 2 months to rehearse, Beethoven. 15 minutes, "Classical New York - In Conversation ", https://www.wqxr.org/#!/ ( scroll down a bit ).

Thanks for that! :)

I've been listening carefully each day to portions of this magnificent set, and am enjoying each quartet tremendously. I do plan to add this to my collection: the Ebene Quartet has much to say in their thoughtful and energetic interpretations. So much to enjoy here!

This is a stunning release, full of energy, passion, and wonderfully nuanced playing. I finally finished listening to the full set today, and was deeply impressed by every disc. The Ebene Quartet has truly mastered the entire Beethoven Quartet repertoire. This will be added to my collection soon, and receives a hearty five star recomendation! Thanks, Rach3, for bringing this to our attention!
