Aldo Ciccolini Alert

EMI issued a 56-CD box of the celebrated pianist Aldo Ciccolini about 10 years ago, featuring all his recordings for that label from 1950-1991 .Ciccolini is not very well known here in the USA, but he was well thought of throughout post-war Europe, and had a fine career, recording and concertizing with many top-rank conductors. I just noticed that there is one copy of this box still available on American amazon for the bargain price of $84, shipped from England for only $3.99.

A steal, since this is already out of print!

Anybody interested?

I already own it and paid a lot less than $84.

Love the set. I have collected AC's records since the LP era, probably b/c he bore the same last name as my piano teacher. Very French. At the time I bought a copy for a friend for Xmas and he was delighted to have it.

I got mine for $61 in January 2010. Seems like it was just yesterday. At the current price of around $85 or so, it is entirely worth it. In 10 years it will probably cost 10 times as much! Highly recommended.

I have really only heard him murder the music of Erik Satie, so I will pass.

Thank-you, Lance! In fact, I've had the box on my shelf for some time, but haven't opened it yet. Just wanted to alert all here that it was still available at a reasonable price for the last copy.

I am so taken with these mega-boxes as an investment for my heirs. I'll never sell, but I hope they will profit richly! Plus, I really enjoy hearing the complete output of all these magnificent artists: I'm still learning, and that keeps me alive.
