Complete solo piano music of American composer John Alden Carpenter, the late Denver Oldham, pianist, a New World Records cd in my collection.Recommend hearing the Piano Sonata with its wonderful slow mov., the “Diversions” , and the “ Impromptu.” I had been hoping for many years this cd would make its appearance on YT.

If you are talking about New World Records two-CD set 328-329 of Carpenter's piano music, I wholeheartedly agree. Oldham has done a great service to a number of composers aside from Carpenter, Nathaniel Dett, Charles Tomlinson Griffes, and John Knowles Paine, all on New World Records. And on other labels, more Dett, and William Grant Still.

I'm listening to this album now on Amazon (sans commercials, thank-you!) and am quite taken with John Alden Carpenter's piano music. Many thanks for the suggestion!

Searching for other discs of his music, I came upon this important reissue from the CRI label, which contains Carpenter's "Concertino for Piano and Chamber Orchestra," along with a work by Piston with the identical title and Ives's Fourth of July. Copies are burned on demand directly from master tapes, so delivery takes a few days longer than usual, but the results are worth it:

I've also discovered this CD by various American composers, including Carpenter, and will stream it today:
