I Miss April Fools Day Spoof Reviews!

Post by Modernistfan » Wed Mar 31, 2021 3:18 pm

I really miss the spoof reviews that used to be posted by the classical music websites on April Fools Day. For some reason, they have disappeared over the last few years. The reviews for April 1 are now up on Musicweb International, and there are no spoof reviews. I shall see if Classics Today has any spoof reviews; they will not be up until tomorrow.

We could use a little levity in these times.

Lance G. Hill of Classical Music Guide to perform
an all-Alkan piano recital at Carnegie Hall

Charles Valentin Alkan, 1813-1855
As requested by many people around the world, Alkan specialist, Lance G. Hill owner/editor of the Internet's beloved Classical Music Guide website, will perform an all-Alkan piano recital at Carnegie Hall in New York City on April 1, 2021. The program will include some of the most difficult piano music ever written for the piano including Alkan's solo Symphony and solo Concerto for piano including many shorter pieces composed by this man who was feared even by Franz Liszt. Hill has worked with eminent pianists Egon Petri, Raymond Lewenthal, John Ogdon, Ronald Smith and other Alkan specialists over many years. Seating is free of any charge as a gift from Mr. Hill, who will have a variety of concert grand pianos on the stage, all of which he prepares for concerts himself. After New York, Mr. Hill will take his program to the West Coast—San Francisco and Los Angeles—and then off to Australia, Great Britain, France and Canada. •

You better have a top-class orthopedic surgeon on call to perform a finger transplant after that program!

Could I have a job pushing the wheelbarrows of money that will no doubt result from admissions and recording rights of this enterprise?

The 3 hateful "Comments" posted evidence why the virus has ravaged America.

Thank you beyond words, Lance! I sorely needed a laugh today. You evidently have an astounding talent for humor that I've not seen here before. You made my entire week, let alone my day! :D

Hmmm, but suppose I told you that wasn't an April Fools' Day post? As for my sense of humor, it is much worse than you think it is! You generally see my "conservative" side on CMG. And yes, it is an April Fools' Day joke. Glad I was able to make you smile!
