At least one of Pietro Alessandro Yon's works seems to be well known: "Jesu Bambino," generally sung at Christmastime.
Yon, born in Italy in 1886 died in New York City in 1943. He made America his home and did much to promote the organ as a concert instrument for recitals rather than just a "church" instrument, though he wrote a great deal of music for the church as well. He was an organist for St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC and worked with various organ companies to improve sound characteristics and stops.
Brilliant Classics has just issued a 3-CD set [95912] as Volume 1 of his complete organ music. The organist is Tommaso M. Mazzoletti at the Fisk Organ at Lausanne Cathedral. [This organ was made in Gloucester, Mass.] Interestingly, there is also a "Concerto Gregoriano for Organ and Piano." I am very anxious to see how many volumes of Yon's music there will be.

If you mean the cover below, Lance, Amazon has the 3CD set for $14.99, a real bargain. I'll be sampling the set later today. Many thanks for posting about this.Lance wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 1:45 amAt least one of Pietro Alessandro Yon's works seems to be well known: "Jesu Bambino," generally sung at Christmastime.

You got it, Brian. Just auditioning it now. I am somewhat of an organ buff as well, so this one was of particular interest.
