Dimitri Christov ( 1933 - ? ) Piano Concerto No.1, Milena Mollova,Roumen Bayrakov,Plovdiv Phil. The Bulgarian composer also apparently composed film scores, some flavor of that genre here, but much more to my ear. Have found nothing on-line about him.Fine work worth hearing, re-hearing, virtuosic, lyrical, audio with score here:

Christov's Piano Concerto # 1
Re: Christov's Piano Concerto # 1
Really good.
It seems his first name is spelled in English - "Dimitar." As you note, there isn't much information about him and this concerto apparently has not been recorded.
The Russian-language note on YouTube translates to tell us that the concerto was done as a graduation work in 1956. And, in step with your "film genre" comment, the description includes this: "The music was also a background to sprawling wheat fields and steaming factories producing the same machine part for decades." Hmmm - needs a bit of imagination I think.
The concerto is set next to that of Christov's countryman, Pancho Vladigerov - and the comment is that there is little comparison. To me Vladigerov is a bit more "romantic" but to my ears the similarity is there.
Interesting, thanks.

This is a great set:
Excellent - and I see the concerto is "In name of Pancho Vladigerov," who I mentioned above.Rach3 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 11:17 amAnd another Bulgarian PC I enjoyed :

Thanks. I have a recording of some of his piano preludes.
