Jussen Brothers

Post by Belle » Wed Apr 03, 2024 5:54 am

Here are the Jussens from December last year playing a contemporary work from a Turkish composer, Fazil Say. You can hear that musical idiom throughout this work.

The Jussen Brothers are not content to stick to a conservative repertoire, and good on them. Two more gorgeous young men with talent to spruce up the image of classical music for modern audiences!! (I just wish they'd sit still whilst playing.)

Here is their encore from the same concert:

I've got the overwhelming urge to return to Amsterdam as I love the Dutch and their glorious Concertgebouw. The spouse and I talked about it this evening and he's always rearing to go and needs little prompting. (One more trip on the A380 - this time better than Business Class!!)

Your post fascinated me in the sense that I am not familiar with the Jussen Brothers. It appears they have an interesting catalogue of works on the DGG label. Their Bach album is of great interest, and the Schubert ... well, the Russian one as well ... they all look pretty good. You are going to cost me some $$$ if I go for it all or some. It looks like the DGG distribution is more in Europe, though Amazon/USA has all the discs at considerably higher pricing on DGG CDs than usual.

Lucas Jussen also plays solo, not sure about Arthur.

They both do, Holden. Mum and Dad are musicians too: Mum is a flute teacher and Dad, Paul Jussen, is Percussion in the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. Pictured below:

Fww, a friend recommended their Ravel-Poulenc-Faure DGG cd "Jeux." I dont have it.

I have an mp3 download of their recording of Joey Roukens' Concerto for Two Pianos from their "Dutch Masters" cd, and a radio broadcast of Arthur playing Mozart K.271 PC with BBCSSO/Brabyns live in 2018. There are several YT's.

I was checking Presto for Jussen Brothers CDs. I didn't see much. I wonder how it is that DG doesn't distribute these CDs more internationally.

Thanks! I previously checked Amazon/USA - and saw they had them, but they are pricey thereon! I'd like to get the Schubert disc - well all of them - given the good reviews I've seen on CMG and elsewhere.

When I scrolled down at this page, Presto did show a few other of their DGG cds, not all, but when click on those covers’ icons just get a Presto message “ product not available in your location”, yet Amazon has them.
