This is a treat. The maestro; I loved the way he tried out the piano first!! What class, what panache, what je ne sais quoi!! His playing is wonderfully idiosyncratic - even mannered - at times, and it all seemed so effortless! I appreciate his Mozart and I never listen to this composer these days. There's real conversation in this, similar to what I hear in Levit. Some fluffs but, what the heck, it's Horowitz!!

Here he is in Moscow in 1986. Again, remastered. His Scarlatti at the start of the recital is the most 'romantic' reading I've ever heard of Scarlatti.

Re: Horowitz in Vienna, 1987 and Moscow, 1986 (re-mastered)
Wonderful to see the man, at this age, gently pat his glorious Steinway on the way, performing on stages in faraway venues from New York ... but he didn't show any sign of nervousness - I'm sure he was, usually was before a concert ... so much was "expected" of him. I'm happy I have lived while he was alive. A new Horowitz recording was always a revelation.
