Mcdonalds Change

Post by lennygoran » Fri Jun 22, 2018 7:33 am

We were on our way up to poughkeepsie and wanted to stop at a garden first-we needed a quick lunch stop and went to Mcdonalds-now they cook the hamburger after you order it-took quite a bit longer than it used to take-the coffee was starting to get cold-otoh the hamburger seemed to taste a little better. The only reason I am not kidding the Gorans about resorting to McDonalds is that it would be the pot calling the kettle black. The school day starts so early and I live so far from most of the schools that more often than not I stop at McDonald's for breakfast to go. (Always the no. 2 breakfast with a medium coffee.) Still, I'm afraid I don't get the point of McDonald's trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear with what it calls a hamburger. I was hoping this would be an announcement that McDonald's has abandoned the penny in accepting and making change. Now that would be progress.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

John their coffee is decent and they provide a great pit stop as we travel to gardens--talk about that-we cancelled our Saratoga plans for today due to the bad weather they predict for today-instead this Thurs and yesterday we visited 2 gardens in Duchess county staying overnight in Hyde Park-the weather for the gardens was perfect-yesterday was Millbrook's Innisfree Garden-just spectacular! Len, you've lost a lot of weight!!! We found McDonalds useful when living in Vienna. Sitting in Mass at Stephansdom and in the freezing cold we couldn't wait to rush around the corner to McDonalds to use the toilets and then enjoy a piping hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate!! Next time I'll take a rug to mass if I attend during winter. Those cathedrals are freezing cold.

Belle yeah the weeding and other garden chores will do that to you! As it turned out we got very little rain yesterday-don't know how Saratoga Springs made out but we couldn't take the chance of going all the way up there with the forecast they give. As it is yesterday we got to an open days private garden closer to home in Mahwah NJ owned by an artist! Regards, Len

I can't think of Mahwah without remembering the many times, starting in high school, that I took the bus from Newburgh. The only route possible was 17, leading eventually to the Lincoln Tunnel, and the instant one crossed the NJ state line there was lovely Mahwah, characterized by a large Ford dealership and a rest stop I believe was called the Red Apple Rest. I guess even near-in Jersey has more to offer than that. (The high point of the trip for me was the spectacular view of the midtown skyline on the approach to the Lincoln Tunnel, which one got to enjoy for all of 15 seconds.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

John the Red apple Rest-I go back along time with that-my family would stop there on our way up to Monticello and the bungalows. We know the 15 second view of the skyline when we take the bus in to the Port Authority from Secaucus-we also know how to enjoy the view of the skyline from Hoboken and Jersey City which you can enjoy for as long as you want to! Regards, Len :)
