Supreme Court robes

Post by Jean » Thu Feb 18, 2010 2:08 am

An image of all the Supreme Court justices has been on the yahoo homepage all evening.
There is probably some sort of tradition associated withg the silly lace collars the women are wearing, but really....they are ridiculous and very sexist.
I don't think these hankies are needed to differentiate the women from the men.

I wouldn't try to tell that to Judge Judy.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

It's just a style which a justice may or not not accept.

Have you seen "First Monday in October," the comedy that came out before Justice O'Connor's appointment?

I haven't seen it, but I looked up the synopsis and have put it on my Netflix queue. Looking forward to watching it. It looks very promising based on the cast and storyline. What is your review?

After additional thought, I guess the hankies are better than pink robes.

There aren't many flicks about the Supreme Court. This one anticipated the appointment of the first female justice. It's well acted, sort of a judicial romp. Fun but don't expect serious dialog about the Constitution. :)

By the way, remember the robe ordered by Chief Justice Rehnquist when he presided over President Clinton's impeachment trial. Straight out of Gilbert and Sullivan.

Has there ever been a movie with serious dialog about the Constitution, so's you'd notice?
