The Official 2010 Passover Coke Thread

Post by IN278S » Wed Mar 10, 2010 11:23 pm

It's that time of year again! On behalf of sugar-loving goyim everywhere, my thanks to the Kosher community for this yearly bounty. I don't drink Coke at other times of the year, but when they make it with real sugar instead of the inferior high-fructose corn syrup, who can resist?

My local Hannaford has set up its Kosher for Passover display, but there's no Coke yet. Have you seen it locally? Look for the 2-liter bottles with yellow caps, instead of the usual red ones.

Is this any different than what we Californians call "Mexican Coke?" It's made with real cane sugar, and some of the bigger stores import it from Mexico. Makes a world of difference! Glass bottles, too!

Well at least I know there WAS cherry Coke Zero. They used to carry it in the cafeteria where I work. But they haven't had it for a while, so I suppose it's conceivable it's been discontinued. Maybe someone else can fill us in on that.

I love soda from glass bottles. Is the Coke made with real sugar very syruppy?

Just the other day I tried to get a Cherry Coke out of a vending machine...and it gave me Cherry Coke Zero instead. :x :x So yeah, you should be able to get it.

As for the Mexican coke, yes, it's definitely thicker than our "normal" Coke!

I don't like any colas at all. All right, Diet Dr. Pepper isn't too bad, and if I have to have a cola, I sorta like TAB. It used to be a lot more popular than it is now, and lots of folk think its gone away, but its still available in a few places. My real soft drink preferences, however, are Diet Sunkist Orange, Diet A&W Root Beer, Fresca, and Diet Cherry 7 Up, in that order. Diet Mountain Dew is pretty good, too.

We agree on two things, Rob. Our taste in soda is almost identical; the main differences being our order of preference and I'd swap diet Canada Dry ginger ale for diet Mountain Dew.

Of course, I tried it. And once was enough :!: You're dealing with someone with extremely finicky taste-buds. I drink virtually no alcohol as well (just a mixed drink or two at weddings; but I prefer less alcohol and more soda or juice). And I've had perhaps three sips of both beer and coffee in my entire life.

I've always called it soda pop.

I rarely drink the stuff, but when the occasion transpires my favorites are Virgil's Real Cola and Virgil's Root Beer. They are more expensive, but considering I don't consume them often I am willing to pay the price for the quality.
