Isn't most pop-rock based on I-IV-V three-chord progressions, i.e. A-D-E?

An artist can find creative stimulus in limitations.
I began the third piece in my suite for cello ensemble — It’s all in your head (not that that’s a bad place for everything to be) — with the idea of restricting myself to two chords.
(Just saying.)
