And mine (Tulane) drops out of the Top 50...
I really regret not going to Vanderbilt, which has gone up in the rankings since I applied. They offered me more money than Tulane did, too.

Bowdoin College ranks sixth in the national liberal arts college listing. Quite a difference with its "F" grade in the other ranking! Any campus with a 10 to 20 percent admission rate gets "cream of the crop" student populations.

Where I went to grad school has a ranking of 159. But I had a very good (read fun, beaches, drinking) time there. And don't ask for the name of this institution cause I'm not telling.

Well if it's the University of Maryland Baltimore County, then we might have met there because that's where I did all my teacher prep work and a bunch of other stuff too.Cosima___J wrote:Where I went to grad school has a ranking of 159. There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

Well, US News got the #1 ranking right. But their elaborately explained methodology should give no one much confidence that the rankings really reflect the relative quality of undergraduate education except in the most general way. This may be a tad more rigorous than David Letterman's Top 10 lists, but I certainly wouldn't base any important decision on it.
