Spokeo and privacy of personal information

Post by Prometheus » Fri Jan 14, 2011 1:11 am

For those that do not desire such personal information to be available to just anyone:

I had heard of this website some time ago. Back then it would perform people searches and would list names and the state of residence, but not much more.

Now if you type in your name or the name of a family member you will likely find your personal cell phone number along with your address and a google maps picture of your living location. This is all publicly available for anyone to search and find.

Further information about oneself can be had as well, but it will cost money to join.

It also can search for usernames and link them to all of the websites you use them on.

All of the info appears to be available to those who pay, but it can be publicly removed.

If you wish, after searching and finding your listing, copy the url of your profile at the top of your browser and then click on the privacy link on the bottom of the page. It will then lead you to the page to request your listing to be publicly removed.

But hey if you have a problem with the site, just look up Harrison Tang and give him a buzz

Its free information on me is very incomplete and out of date. I'm sure you can find my correct current street address and phone number on numerous other people search sites--or by checking the phone book.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.
