Hope our Australian CMG members Okay--Islam Protests
"Demonstrators angry over an anti-Islam film clashed with police in Australia, but downtown Cairo, scene of the first protests, and most of the Muslim world appeared to be largely calm Saturday evening.
Egyptian security forces earlier Saturday pushed protesters away from the U.S. Embassy toward Tahrir Square, where they were further dispersed.
Hundreds of Egyptian riot police remained in the square as workers cleaned streets and businesses and assessed damage from five days of protests.
The protest in Sydney came as the United States strengthened security at diplomatic stations amid the unrest, which marked its fifth day.
Carrying signs that read: "Obama, Obama, we like Osama" and "Behead All Those Who Insult the Prophet," hundreds of protesters gathered on the steps of the consulate in Sydney.
The demonstration turned violent after protesters were pushed back from the building.
Authorities used tear gas and police dogs to disperse protesters who threw bottles and shoes -- considered a grave insult among Muslims. Six police officers were injured and eight people were arrested, Sydney police said. Seventeen people were treated for the effects of pepper spray used by police."

Sydney is quiet today. The violent demonstrators will be prosecuted and
tried in court. Eight police officers were injured, a dog was stabbed
a horse was injured. Australia will not tolerate such demonstrations.
Thank you for asking Lenny, our family is doing well.
Regards,
Agnes.

In the US, PETA would form an alliance with the Republicans to revive the death penalty in states that don't still have it.Agnes Selby wrote: a dog was stabbed,a horse was injured.
Glad to hear that order prevails where you are, Agnes.
There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

It's surprising, even striking, that there have been no such demonstrations in the US (so far anyway), since the offending video is apparently the work of Americans. We have our own Islamic hotheads too. But where would such demonstrations occur? Maybe it's because there are no easy symbolic targets, such as U.S. embassies and consulates abroad.

Perhaps, the demonstrator made their way to the US consulate but were stopped in time.John F wrote:It's surprising, even striking, that there have been no such demonstrations in the US (so far anyway), since the offending video is apparently the work of Americans. A taskforce has been established and the local Imams are identifying the demonstrators.
They say they don't want anything like this happening again. So let's hope so!

Agnes what I do is to use my photobucket account--you can set it up for free--at least I was able to do this. You develop an album by uploading from your computer to the photobucket album--the photobucket site can get to the photos you have in your computer. When you open the album in photobicket and hold the mouse over the photo you see 4 choices--left clicking the bottom one which is IMG code will get the photo copied--then come back to our CMG forum and paste that into your message--then send the message. Hope this helps. Regards, LenAgnes Selby wrote:The truth is Lenny, I would but I don't know how. Especially on this computer

Re: Hope our Australian CMG members Okay--Islam Protests
Australia is a country where we tend to back the underdog but woe betide anyone who knocks, in any way, the Australian way of life which these idiots have done. All they've managed to accomplish is to confirm for every racist and bigot in the country is the idea that Islamism is a barbaric religion that has no place in modern society. These guys have done some serious credibility damage to the hard work that Australian muslims have done in trying to gain acceptance. The Aussie approach is simple - give us a fair go and we'll give you one. One commentator said that while this might work back in the middle east trying it here was a dumb move.
As a teacher at a non-denominational private school I work with a number of muslim children and their parents. What they want is a good life for their kids and to get them to integrate into society here. I know most of them are appalled at what has happened.
