A Victor Borge memory from I've Got a Secret

Post by jbuck919 » Mon Oct 06, 2014 3:08 am

I've posted several times on both that fine comedian and that show, and I'm afraid I have no link for this, because apparently unlike What's My Line? I've Got a Secret is not represented well on YouTube.

In one episode, Victor Borge looked in the phone book to find people in NYC who had last names corresponding with the words from "In the good old summertime." Incredibly, he found someone with a last name that corresponded to every word except two. He had to substitute "Sommerstein" for "summertime," and there was no one in the phone book named "and " so he substituted someone whose last name was "Blank." They all agreed to appear and performed as a chorus, each singing his or her own name/word to the proper note at the proper point. I am not making this up.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.
