When Was The Last Time You Heard This?:

ONE MAN'S TERRORIST IS ANOTHER MAN'S FREEDOM FIGHTER.
It used to be very big in the time of Baader-Meinhof, Brigata Rossa, ETA and the PLO.

And vice versa, or both. When I was growing up, the Mau Mau rebellion against British rule in Kenya was a big story. At the time, in white America at least, the Mau Mau were portrayed as barbaric terrorists and nothing more, but we now know they were freedom fighters as well.

I've heard it. Freedom fighters usually fight within their own borders. Terrorists don't mind to come to your place in a different country and attack you.

During the time of Franco, France did not care about ETA. That indifference changed to concern when, after the death of Franco, the Etarras revealed that they also coveted the French Basque Country.
