Apparently this was the only one in the world, and they had to get it all the way from California to New York to have an expert play it.
Anyone ever heard of a contrabass trumpet?

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

Sounds like a tuba, for sure.

Well, tuba is just the Latin word for trumpet. (The modern tuba is the bass or perhaps double bass of the relatively recent euphonium family.)

Trumpets are cylindrical bore. Tubas are conical bored. That contrabass trpt tubing looked more cylindrical, but could produce that tuba sound. Neat horn.

I swear, I'd be filthy rich if I had a dime for everyone I've heard use the word "trumpetist."
Good music is that which falls upon the ear with ease, and quits the memory with difficulty.

Isn't that someone who does a duet with a flauter? (Actually, I have a little problem with "flautist" too. I grew up with the also correct "flutist" and always though, probably wrongly, that "flautist" was a bit pretentious.)Wallingford wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2018 12:49 pmI swear, I'd be filthy rich if I had a dime for everyone I've heard use the word "trumpetist."
