More about the Trapp Family Singers

Post by jbuck919 » Mon Jan 15, 2018 3:45 am

Many here might know all of this, and I suppose I knew maybe 2/3 of it, but it still has astonishing moments. For one thing, Donald Isler, whose father and our late member Werner served in the US Army During WW II, might be interested to know that Captain von Trapp, already something of a war hero and virulently anti-Nazi, volunteered to serve in the US submarine service after immigrating. (There was at the time no more difficult military duty to undertake.) He was refused. Do not worry about the caption. It is in English.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.
-- Johann Sebastian Bach
