Gerrymandering dates back more than two centuries, and has never been comprehensively overturned by the courts. All political parties have taken advantage of it, but the modern Republican party has honed it, along with all the other antique structural flaws in our so-called democracy, to a fine art.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.
