Dear God in Heaven. Washington, which has few Catholics, only always has a cardinal because it is the capital of one of the two countries that keep the Vatican coffers full (the other is Germany). This actually interferes with the possibilities of neighboring Baltimore, the precedential see of the United States with a much larger Catholic population, always having a cardinal. Then I won't get into the architectural difficulties. (The cathedral of Washington, St. Matthew's, is quite undistinguished and I imagine these days quite unattended.)
There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.
