About "Cher," the singer

I was recently invited to go to the movie "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again," which is the
sequel to the original "Mamma Mia." I never saw the original film. This is not usually the kind of movie I attend, but I must say it was entertaining, particularly musically. I have never collected any recordings by Cher or Sonny and Cher. However, I was so taken with one of the ABBA songs, "Fernando," sung by Cher with Andy Garcia. I was appreciative of the quality of Cher's voice in this particular song.

So, getting to my question: Cher has a lot of records out there. I am looking for songs of the type she sang in "Fernando," and without Sonny. If one had to select one or two recordings of music that shows off Cher's voice in the style of "Fernando," what would you recommend?

Interestingly, Meryl Streep also sings, and the quality was very good. All this music and lyrics is by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Uvaleus. The arrangements on the CD soundtrack [Capitol 85860] are done exceedingly well.

Cher is the reason why everyone went to see that movie. But why oh why did they have Pierce Brosnan "sing" again? omg

Not sure about Cher, but Postcards from the Edge made me a fan of Meryl Streep's voice.

I never really liked Cher as a singer, thinking most of the songs banal, but she's a fine actress and I loved her in "Moonstruck" and "Mask". She has a great deal of depth as an actress and I loved the scene in "Moonstruck" where Nicholas Cage says to her "now come with me and get in my bed". The film is typical of something you Americans do so very well - representing the immigrant populations and their traits and values. The last example of such a film I really enjoyed was "Gran Torino".
