"Microsoft" phone scam

Post by John F » Fri Jul 19, 2019 8:30 am

Yesterday I received a robocall which said that my Microsoft Windows license key has expired, Microsoft has "stopped my windows services," and I should call them about it. First, Microsoft never calls anybody unless he's called them first. Second, the license key for Windows 10 never expires; once the copy of Win10 has been registered as required, that's it. Third, the message as recorded by my voice mail has some errors in English usage which reveal it as fraudulent, possibly from abroad. Fourth, the phone number given, 833-205-7605, has been identified as a scammer. Don't be fooled!
