I Like The Latest Impeachment Developments!

I hope these headlines yield results hurting trump. I'm wondering if Pelosi will get a subpoena going for Bolton in the house-the sooner may be the better!

It would be important to hear evidence, so much so that I cannot understand how the Republicans are denying it. I know they are corrupt in this matter, and have no interest in ascertaining facts but just using their numbers to kill the issue. But surely they are concerned to look to the American people as though they are interested in justice, or at least the law?

It used to be one of the things I particularly admired about America: the respect for the Constitution and for proper process. Another casualty of the Trump era.

Barney yeah-it's very depressing-hope he can be defeated at election time-hope Russia attempts at hacking can be stymied. Len

Finished the whole Ron Chernow " Alexander Hamilton " biography , first book I’ve read in years. Glad we saw the musical first. Both amazing. Many parallels to today. Remarkable political discord, fears of civil war and secession, fiercely opposite US reactions to the French Revolution, all between Cornwallis' surrender in 1781 and Hamilton's death in 1804.Amazing the musical was able to distill so well a 731-page book. How fragile our Democracy was and remains, how great men were the Founders , despite their faults, compared to today’s small men “leaders” on both sides.A must read.

I sometimes wonder what will happen, but I distrust progressives so much I can't believe them in much. I still view this as them being ticked that Trump beat Hil, not that they care a rip what he has or hasn't done.

One can distrust progressives and still look at the facts-they're clearly out there-where's his taxes, can you seriously deny his coverup of the evidence-what are you waiting for-does he really have to shoot someone on 5th ave to convince you? Regards, Len

David, I think it's very reasonable to distrust the Democrats, who seem to be increasingly captured by the woke class and will therefore fail to persuade too many Americans.
But Len is right: that doesn't change the facts about Trump, who is morally and intellectually unfit to govern, a serial liar, a boastful sex abuser, erratic, narcissistic, a monomaniac, who utterly fails to grasp the concept of conflict of interest, and who has tried to bully a foreign government to intervene in a US election and obstructed the investigations. Easily the most sordid President your fine country has ever had. And I know there have been a couple of doozies.

Fww:

Trump's view of his Generals:
https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-cal ... ook-claims

Hamilton in Federalist Paper 65 , 2nd paragraph :
"A well-constituted Court for the trial of impeachments is an object not more to be desired, than difficult to be obtained in a Government wholly elective. The subjects of its jurisdiction are those offences which proceed from the misconduct of public men, or, in other words, from
the abuse or violation of some public trust. (My emphasis.)They are of a nature which may with peculiar propriety be denominated political, as they relate chiefly to injuries done immediately to the society itself. The prosecution of them, for this reason, will seldom fail to agitate the passions of the whole community, and to divide it into parties more or less friendly, or inimical, to the accused. In many cases, it will connect itself with the preëxisting factions, and will enlist all their animosities, partialities, influence, and interest on one side, or on the other; and in such cases, there will always be the greatest danger, that the decision will be regulated more by the comparative strength of parties, than by the real demonstrations of innocence or guilt." In other, " abuse of power " is impeachable as an " abuse or violation of some public trust."

Thanks for the link. It is so Trumpian: sad, funny, outrageous, bewildering, manic, ignorant, deluded, bloviating etc.
