Condoleezza Rice: China Wants To Shift The Narrative On COVID-19, Don't Let Them
TOM GILLIGAN: You were the National Security Advisor during the SARS outbreak, what are the important similarities and differences between then and now?
CONDOLEEZZA RICE: One of the unfortunate similarities is it is hard to get information out of China. With the SARS outbreak, we knew something had happened. it was very hard to get answers from China about what had happened, and that is, unfortunately, a recurring pattern ...

Do not trust the Communist Chinese Govt. in this.
Re: Rice: Don't Let the Chinese Set the Narrative
David, that is the one thing that every poster on this forum has agreed about. The Chinese Communist Government is totally untrustworthy in every regard.

I despise China's totalitarian surveillance state but China likely sees Mister Trump as the incarnation of Mao's "paper tiger" — the proverbial mouse that roared.
Surely Xi must uncork a belly laugh each time Trump kowtows to him in private but fulminates against China for domestic consumption, or slaps a tariff on imported goods the USA can no longer produce for itself because it has shortsightedly walled off unskilled immigrants.

How can he laugh when it bringing in billions of dollars to the US--or so says trump! OTOH
President Donald Trump Thursday tweeted that “billions of Dollars are pouring into the coffers of the U.S.A. because of the Tariffs being charged to China, and there is a long way to go.”
But the Trump administration’s higher tariffs on Chinese imports are just a drop in the U.S. fiscal bucket, according to the latest financial statements from the Treasury.
Tariffs collected in the latest fiscal year ended Sept. 30 rose by less than $7 billion from fiscal 2017, according to the Treasury. That is less than 0.2 percent of the $3.3 trillion the Treasury took in during the latest fiscal year.

How and why can Xi laugh?
Simple. He soberly fathers children upon Feminist Socialism, but has passionate sex on the side with Floozy Capitalism.
An on-the-sly yuan for the dollar, one might say.
To accomplish this, Xi has skillfully duped premiere capitalist Mr. Donald John Trump into pimping for him.

I'm surprised by this-you'd think trump who has/had Hannity and David Pecker pimping for him would know better-okay you'll probably find holes in my analogy here! Re: Rice: Don't Let the Chinese Set the Narrative
I wish it were just a figure of speech to call Mr. Trump Xi's pimp. It is not.
Trump's tweet you quoted above misstated the facts: China doesn't pay the newly imposed Trump tariffs, Americans do in the form of higher prices. That's why conservatives like David Jones, Sr. and Gary Cohn opposed these policies.
So Xi co-opted Trump by buying farm stuffs from the US he needed anyway and in return allowed Trump's false claim that the tariffs are paid by China rather than America to go unchallenged; then Trump tooled about town touting Prosperity bought on credit; subsequently, Xi was free to pursue his objective of making China the preeminent power of this century.
Bottom line: President Donald Trump, unwitting tool of International Socialism.

Once again, a rather unique interpretation.jserraglio wrote: ↑Sat Apr 18, 2020 10:44 amI wish it were just a figure of speech to call Mr. Trump Xi's pimp. It is not.

In reality, Trump is the first post-Cold War American to break from the line of policy held by his three predecessors, each of whom we now know stupidly thought that if we give China Most Favored Nation status and bring them into more international institutions, they would change their behavior, become less totalitarian and be a responsible member of the family of nations. Well how has that worked out?
Trump has plenty of problems, but being naive about China like his predecessors isn't among them.
It remains to be seen how the deal that was reached between the two countries will play out. The virus hit right after the deal was made. If the Chinese don't do their part and go about the same sorts of behavior that they exhibited before Trump's presidency, I suspect he'll toughen sanctions on them. He's already going to take a tougher line as a result of China's virus-related behavior.
I'm sorry, but your take on the matter is utter nonsense.

Calling Trump a Xi creature instead of Putin's is a novel notion for sure. Is it or is it not nonsense? Of course, it would be presumptuous of me to say, but to quote an eminent purveyor of disruptive ideas in politics: "Let's see what happens."

Re: Rice: Don't Let the Chinese Set the Narrative
After all we've been through with staying in doors and social distancing they want to expose us all to more danger just so they can hang out and go to their deaths. The lies they've bought into from Trump are insane-it's useless to even discuss this with them.
