Heather Mac Donald: Race, Merit and the Future of the Republic
Heather Mac Donald: Race, Merit and the Future of the Republic
A great discussion with Dr. Arnn about the divisive politics of identity. Heather is a brave woman and I admire her forthright argument, using facts. She loves literature and music and she's quite the polymath.

Re: Heather Mac Donald: Race, Merit and the Future of the Republic
AxiosAm today:
"Racial segregation in U.S. schools has increased dramatically over the last three decades, Axios' Russell Contreras writes from two new reports and federal data.
Why it matters: As the U.S. marks the 70th anniversary of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education ruling on Friday, American public schools are growing more separate and unequal — even though the country is more racially and ethnically diverse than ever.
Stunning stat: The number of intensely segregated schools, defined as schools that are 90-100% nonwhite students, nearly tripled from 1988 to 2021, according to a UCLA report.
In 1988, about 7.4% of the nation's schools were intensely segregated.
By 2021, that number had ballooned to around 20%.
Zoom out: California's intensely segregated schools increased sharply, from 11% to 44%.
Maryland, New Mexico, Nevada and Texas had some of the largest increases in intensely segregated schools."

You know what? ACHIEVEMENT segregates. MERIT segregates. STATUS segregates. WINNING segregates. WEALTH segregates. BEAUTY segregates. IQ segregates.
The Left wants everybody on the same level; nowhere.
Move to North Korea if that's what's on the agenda. That way you get a One Star airline and absolutely nobody wins except the most corrupt. I think there might even have been a clue in my last phrase.

Another non sequitur response.
Re: Heather Mac Donald: Race, Merit and the Future of the Republic
Absolutely priceless non-argument.
Oh, I forgot; HEALTH segregates and discriminates too.

Re: Heather Mac Donald: Race, Merit and the Future of the Republic
It’s a funny thing. Our schools are very well integrated in terms of achievement, merit, beauty, IQ, but race….. racial integration is communism.
This brings me back to the 1960s. My father served on inter-faith councils on race relations and civil rights. Because he felt that a nation whose forefathers brought forth on this continent a nation conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal ought to live up to that proposition.
And for this he regularly received hate mail, saying he was a “n!@@er lover” and a communist.
Seems like old times.

The fact that you think nothing has changed since the 1960s is very sad. Have you been living under a rock? Times have changed - it's not 'like old times' - and thank goodness for that, but clinging tenaciously to the victim schtick of old doesn't help ANYBODY.diegobueno wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 10:13 pmIt’s a funny thing. Ask Glenn Loury.
Ask Tom Sowell. Ask John McWhorter. Ask Coleman Hughes.
But, hey, what the hell would they know?!!
Heather Mac Donald celebrates merit, beauty and talent and I would have thought a classical music lover would understand her points which I think are very well made in that discussion.
Re: Heather Mac Donald: Race, Merit and the Future of the Republic
It eems to me the Left has shifted on this. For most of my life it has fought for equality of opportunity, which I strongly support. Now it wants equality of outcome, which is humanly not possible. The only way is the Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland: everybody has won, and all shall have prizes. Alas, life is not like that once you leave school (or, in most cases, while there).

What hasn't changed is the right, still using communism as the same old tired response to anyanything you don't like ("move to North Korea"). School integration is communism to you just as it was in the 1960s to people who sent hate mail to my Dad. 60 years later, same story.
And you, Belle, should be the last person on this forum to complain about the "victim schtick"! You play it like a fiddle in practically everything you post. ("hard left (as opposed to classical liberals or conservatives) always shun people who don't share their beliefs. That's my experience here on CMG").

I'm no victim, but the evidence is in about the cruelty meted out to others by the hard Left for daring to disagree. Pointing out facts is horrible, I know. Only the Left could confuse facts and commentary with 'victimhood'. It's so ingrained in them that it's an instinctive reaction; it's called A PROJECTION. It became so toxic that Elon Musk had to boot the hard Left from Twitter.
And you are trying to build a North Korea in the USA by wanting to reduce everybody to the same level in society; it's entirely within the purview of the Left, the hard Left. Were it not that way you'd be celebrating achievement, merit and exceptional talent to the hilt - rather than railing about unfairness, inequality, victimhood, 'the deplorables', 'alt right', 'racists', 'sexists', 'homophobes'. All tropes of the modern Left which have divided society and trashed the institutions in the name of their new 'woke' religion.
Stop it, or you'll go blind! Even Bill Maher has had a gutful of the hard Left. He's a classical liberal centrist and he's had a late awakening.

There you go. No argument in sight, just name-calling. Same as the black producer who talked to John McWhorter..."an idiot".
Never anything by way of intelligent analysis or argument; just platitudes, bromides, cliches "black lives matter" - it's SO YESTERDAY. What would you have without your victimhood? I'm serious, man. People have woken up to it - people like the aforementioned black guys - so don't you feel the slightest bit of embarrassment now that it's all being called out for what it is??!! Especially when black guys have had it up to hear with this crap.
