Art Garfunkel - Some Enchanted Evening

Image

Garfunkel traverses the American Songbook with an album of over-produced, uninspired schlock. These disinterested performances could have been phoned in; this is elevator music for the 21st century.

Wow, listened to four Tull albums practically in a row today: Stand Up, Benefit, Aqualung & Minstrel in the Gallery.

I'm on a Tull binge too, the period that started with "Thick as a Brick" & was rounded up on "Bursting Out". Most of this, I'm just discovering.

Maybe this is Kooper's finest record since the first Blood Sweat and Tears set.

Paul Gonsalves - Gettin' Together.

A most underrated Ellington sideman here fronting a stellar quintet - Nat Adderley, Wynton Kelly, Sam Jones and Jimmy Cobb.

Fergus: Dream a Little Dream of Me: The Music of Mama Cass Elliot is a (24 track) overview of Cass Elliott’s career. The selections predominantly cover Elliott’s post Mamas and Papas solo career although there are some Ms&Ps tracks as well as a couple of pre Ms&Ps tracks with The Big Three and The Mugwumps.

It’s a travesty that the two Cass Elliot solo LPs remain unavailable – I’m particularly interested in Bubblegum, Lemonade, Something for Mama, which has never been released on CD; although some tracks from that set do appear on this compilation.
