Netflix streaming downloads

Here's the place to talk about DVDs (or VHS) films and movies you have seen on television and recommend or don't recommend. Discuss actors and scores, too.

Netflix streaming downloads

Movie fans with high speed internet might be interested. Netflix offers a huge catalog of titles for streaming, including many great documentaries and foreign films and "classic" TV series.
"Most men, including those at ease with problems of the greatest complexity, can seldom accept even the simplest and most obvious truth if it would oblige them to admit the falsity of conclusions which they have delighted in explaining to colleagues, which they have proudly taught to others, and which they have woven, thread by thread, into the fabric of their lives." ~Leo Tolstoy

"It is the highest form of self-respect to admit our errors and mistakes and make amends for them. To make a mistake is only an error in judgment, but to adhere to it when it is discovered shows infirmity of character." ~Dale Turner

I use it regularly. The last movie I saw that way was "Doubt" (better than I expected).

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

Did you already have a Netflix ready device, or did you have to purchase one? Is there a limit on how many you can download each month? Pretty clever set-up.

Yes, it's my PC hard-wired to my high speed home network. If I want to output to a TV monitor, I just plug in a notebook PC that connects wirelessly to our network. There is no limit. In fact, my wife can watch one streaming movie on her notebook while I'm watching another on my office PC.

Love it! Our Comcast service has been outrageously sluggish recently (shocker, right?), so I haven't been able to use it nearly as much as I'd like (movie has to pause to buffer every 15 minutes or so).

I'm a NetFlix member and enjoy the material I get--I don't use it that frequently. Recently I was in a Radio Shack on another matter and the guy who was helping me had time to tell me about Blue Ray--he said it made quite a difference when watching things and that Netflix had Blue Ray material. I'm technologically challenged and always behind but the size of the Blue Ray device was so sleek he tempted me. OTOH he said you really need an HDMI cable to go with it for the best results. Regards, Len

For some reason (knock on wood), DSL here is adequate for this. When you consider that I don't get a cell phone signal....

In case anyone is interested, you have to use Internet Explorer for this (or at least a message told me that I did when I tried and failed on Firefox).

False.

Well, David, thanks, because I just tried it on Firefox and it worked. However, this was not true perhaps a year ago.

Yeah. I still use IE because Firefox wouldn't run it a while ago.

I watch them via Comcast through my Tivo unit. Sometimes it constantly pauses or has terrible pixilation, while others are flawless.
