Movie music... just for fun
If you could choose a great composer from the past to write the music for a film who would you choose for Gone With The Wind, Casablanca, Some Like it Hot and Vertigo? Any other choices of great films?

Prokofiev would have made an excellent film composer.
There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

Sergei Prokofiev's music has appeared in dozens of films and on television, and he composed the score
for several films; he was probably best known for scoring the soundtrack of "Alexander Nevsky", a film classic
by Sergei Eisenstein. A complete list of his filmic and television work is available at the ever-reliable Internet

Certainly George Gershwin's "popular" music would have been perfect for the soundtrack of
"Some Like It Hot" which featured the music of the 1920's. George Gershwin was probably best
known in the '20's era for his tin pan alley music, not his classical-oriented music -- "Rhapsody
in Blue" and "2nd Rhapsody" -- and his one opera, "Porgy and Bess".
