The SHERLOCK HOLMES of Robert Downey is Now on Sale

Here's the place to talk about DVDs (or VHS) films and movies you have seen on television and recommend or don't recommend. Discuss actors and scores, too.

The SHERLOCK HOLMES of Robert Downey is Now on Sale

This is, therefore, the time to ask which are the truly good film and TV adaptations of Conan Doyle's characters. I have read that too many Holmes and Watsons, including Rathbone and Bruce, are caricatures that don't resemble at all the characters as they appear in the books and short stories of Sir Arthur.
I have only read two stories of SH as part of my English class, so I can't make a valid judgment about this matter. I'm at least very glad that Jeremy Brett did not wear that clown outfit in which Holmes is usually depicted.

The previews advertising the film before it came out really turned me off, so I will wait for it on cable.
I have certainly been wrong about good movies with bad previews in the past so I will reserve my
judgement before investing in my collection again. I definately liked "The Hurt Locker" and "Inglorous
Basterds", but "Sherlock Holmes" looked like too much of another parody of some classic films.

Greg Moody (Denver's CBS channel's cultural critic) gave it a mild drubbing.
