Is Anyone Watching "Treme" on HBO?

Here's the place to talk about DVDs (or VHS) films and movies you have seen on television and recommend or don't recommend. Discuss actors and scores, too.

Is Anyone Watching "Treme" on HBO?

Post by HoustonDavid » Sat Apr 17, 2010 10:36 pm

HBO launched a new series on Sunday night: "Treme", about life and music and people in the
New Orleans neighborhood of Tremé (they don't accent the "e" in the title but do in the city).
It was exceptionally well received by the anxious people of New Orleans who wanted very badly
to see their city portrayed accurately for a change. The critics outside the city were equally
enthusiastic. Having lived there for several years, I can concur on the accuracy of the portrayal,
and as a critic I can say "Watch It!!!" Good story about the city shortly after the great flood
of 2005: its people, its music, its culture, and most of all its spirit and its recovery. :D

It will be on again for the next few Sundays, and has been renewed - after only one episode! -
for a second season. If you have cable and HBO, you can catch a repeat on Channel 01. Mark
your calendar. It is preceded by "The Pacific" which is also a real winner for Steven Spielburg
and Tom Hanks. It is into episode six, so do some catching up, also on Channel 01. Two great
shows to fill an empty Sunday evening, or to catch in reruns during the week. Highly recommended! :D

Apparently, no one, and it's a damn shame.

Excellent show.

The second season has already been commissioned. 8)

Now I'm looking forward to the next showing of A Streetcar Named Désiré.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

Let me guess, John, you've been reading about the "acute" accent on another thread and
decided to show off. The é (and è, and ç and dozens more) are not used in the city of New
Orleans anywhere but Tremé to my knowledge, so the Times Picayune had to keep that
character in their box of letter slugs for many years until the advent of the comuputer in
newspaper publishing.
