Eastwood & Streep: Bridges of Madison County

Here's the place to talk about DVDs (or VHS) films and movies you have seen on television and recommend or don't recommend. Discuss actors and scores, too.

Eastwood & Streep: Bridges of Madison County

Post by jserraglio » Sat May 01, 2010 6:22 am

Saw most of this picture for the first time on the TV Guide Channel, of all places. It swept me away. Streep's character is fascinating and Eastwood more than holds his own with this great actress. This movie reminded me of David Lean's Brief Encounter which Andre Previn has just turned into a emotionally wrenching opera.

Everything about Madison County is first rate. Eastwood as director did a great job, and the cinematography is wonderfully evocative of the characters' emotions.

If you liked the movie you should read the book. It is better than the movie!
