From the book "Forties Film Talk". Jack Warner and brother Harry were talking about making a movie and Jack said, Why don't we make a movie from a bible story. They're kinda like a western and you don't have to pay any royalties" Harry said, "What do you know about the bible? You don't even know the Lord's Prayer!" Jack said he did too, so Harry replied " I'll give you $50 if you can recite the Lord's Prayer" Jack began "Now I lay me down to sleep..." "Thats enough", interrupted Harry. "Christ, I didn't think you knew it!" He gave Jack the $50.
