Best flick I've seen this summer, the music was way over my head though. Moving without the schmaltz.

I have heard of this and want to see it. However, I am doubly intrigued if one of our very sophisticated members claims that a movie score was "way over [his] head." That'll be the day, j.

It's rock, which I like a lot but this stuff is way past my prime. I've been told the score is pure nostalgia for those who grew up back then.

Anyway I can't shake off this movie, even though it is about nothing but ordinary daily life in a dysfunctional family. Truffaut did something like this when he followed Jean-Pierre Léaud's coming of age on camera but that was over several discrete films. Great idea for a movie, film the story over 1/2 a generation and let the characters age on screen. The boy Ellar Coltrane is sensational--hopefully he will continue acting.
