Twisted, funny and violent, as were the notable Irish playwright Martin McDonagh's eight plays (two trilogies, The Leenane and The Aran Islands, The Pillowman and A Behanding in Spokane) before he become a filmmaker (In Bruges and Seven Psychopaths).
With Frances McDormand, Sam Rockwell and Woody Harrelson. McDormand should be a sure-fire AA nominee for her performance as Mildred, a Medeaesque, tough-as-nails, grieving mom who takes on a whole town.

I just caught this thread. A week ago, at my Academic Bowl swan song, I wrote a pop culture question to which the answer was the title of this film. I would have accepted just "Three Billboards," but in fact the student gave the entire correct title.
There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.
