Greta Gerwig's Lady Bird
Gerwig's highly touted debut film (100% Rotten Tomato critics rating), may be a bit overrated. Still, I found the movie well-acted (Saoirse Ronan, Laurie Metcalf), charming, a bit in the vein of St. Vincent and episodic. Well worth seeing.

Re: Greta Gerwig's Lady Bird
It might be nice if they made a movie about Claudia "Lady Bird" Johnson, though I suppose she was too dull to make a good subject. Although Lyndon was unfaithful and that fact was well known to her, recently released tapes show that he relied on her greatly for advice, and she gave very good advice. Compare that to JFK, who could barely stand the company of his glamorous and intelligent wife, excluded her from all his men's-club-like political discussions, and always insisted on company for dinner at the White Hous if the alternative was to eat privately with her.
To get back on topic, I will make a point of seeking out this movie based on j's recommendation.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

I had mentioned this movie to my IB class as one that might appeal (it does not romanticize the parochial high-school experience). Two of my students, both male, had already seen it and thought it was excellent.
