Two action thrillers cap off thriving film franchises whose conventions have heavily inseminated one other.
The couple dozen of James Bond films may have reached an end point, but MI is still going strong, with Mission Impossible Number 7 due out in July of next year.
And my mission (and why should I not choose to accept it?) is to be in the theater the very day it comes out.
But both movies are brilliantly shot, and my students are of an age and a gender to be held in thrall by them.

Re: No Time to Die (2021) & Mission Impossible: Fallout (2018)
Just showed No Time to Die again to another section of my Film Studies course.
Had to end it 5 minutes early at the bell. The students demanded to know whether or not James Bond had died in the missile attack.
I told them to come back Monday-and find out. They were not happy with me.
