It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963) dir. Stanley Kramer
A classic road movie and a hilarious, harebrained comedy at one and the same time. Worth watching if only for the stentorious Ethel Merman. My wife and I loved it. Streaming on TCM till April.
Principal cast includes . . .
Spencer Tracy as Captain T. G. Culpeper
Milton Berle as J. Russell Finch
Sid Caesar as Melville Crump
Buddy Hackett as "Benjy" Benjamin
Ethel Merman as Mrs. Marcus
Mickey Rooney as Ding Bell
Dick Shawn as Sylvester Marcus
Phil Silvers as Otto Meyer
Terry-Thomas as Lt. Col. J. Algernon Hawthorne
Jimmy Durante as Smiler Grogan
Jonathan Winters as Lennie Pike
Edie Adams as Monica Crump
Dorothy Provine as Emeline Marcus-Finch
Eddie "Rochester" Anderson as a cab driver
Peter Falk as a cab driver

I have chuckled all the way through that a few times

I just came upon this subject and have to admit that I've watched this (long) movie countless times. Doesn't matter that I know the dialogue almost word for word - I still laugh in all the same places.
And the incidentals - Jerry Lewis driving his car over the police chief's hat; Jack Benny stopping by in his ancient Maxwell car; and so on.
Has to be considered a classic of the big screen.

I've had it for many years--like hundreds of my other DVD-Rs, taped off of cable then ripped to disc, in my massive Great Directors sets--and will likely get to it and finally view it in its entirety.
Good music is that which falls upon the ear with ease and quits the memory with difficulty.
