This Truffaut rarity was previously unknown to me, but I am a fan of Henry James as well as Truffaut fan. Currently watching on the Web.

"The Green Room" is based on the 1895 short story "The Altar of the Dead" by Henry James, in which a man becomes obsessed with the dead people in his life and builds a memorial to them. It is also based on two other works by James: the 1903 novella The Beast in the Jungle and the 1896 short story "The Way It Came". (Wikipedia)

Truffaut’s treatment of two characters obsessed with their beloved after his and her death, reminds me a lot of Clint Eastwood’s exploration in Hereafter (2010) of clairvoyant Matt Damon’s supernatural power to contact the dead of multiple bereaved characters. Both films, especially the Eastwood, moved me greatly.
