The GLOBALIZATION Bugaboo

Today I picked up TO KILL A NATION: THE ATTACK ON YUGOSLAVIA, thinking that it would inform me about the causes of the implosion of Yugoslavia. I put it down immediately after reading the introductory pages and realizing that it was actually a screed against globalization and about how the intention of Clinton and Europe was to force globalization unto Yugoslavia. I was incredulous; how did its author arrive at such a farfetched conclusion? In fact, what's the deal with this globalization bogeyman, and why does it inspire such fear on supposedly rational and reasonable people???!!!

Fear of change is universal in humans, at least according to some. One of the great ironies is that one of the few truly global ideologies is anti-globalization itself.
