Visit of Our Own Jbuck to Manhattan

Post by Ralph » Mon Aug 08, 2005 10:00 pm

John made a too brief detour today to meet me at Tower near Lincoln Center. On his way from Maryland to his mother's home in the Adirondacks, he took the time to come in on a truly steamy, cloudy and not particularly pleasant day.

We ate at Sapphire, a fine Indian restaurant at Broadway and 61st that I enjoy. They offer an excellent buffet.

As with all CMGers who have crossed forks (or chopsticks) with me, this was a truly pleasant meal and I enjoyed having the chance to talk about music, teaching and sundry topics with our esteemed colleague.

Hopefully John will have more time next summer when a get-together with others may be possible.

And hoping to introduce you as the main speaker at the gala dim sum banquet.

It was my pleasure. One of Ralph's sterling qualities (we already know that he has many) is that he takes a genuine interest in other people. Next year (I hate to think it will be that long), I will plan a New York trip per se (as opposed to a drive-by on the way to somewhere else). In the meantime, if anyone finds him or herself in Germany....

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.
