Schmidt-Isserstedt had one of the most celebrated versions of the Beethoven Symphony No. 9, but I am not sure if it is still available. I'm too lazy to search through 300+ listings of the 9th Symphony at Amazon.david johnson wrote:Schmidt-Isserstedt does some of my favorite beethoven.

Does anyone know if the Schmidt-Isserstedt 9th is still available?

I had Schmidt-Isserstedt's recording of Beethoven's Third Symphony when I lived in California, but haven't seen it since I came to Germany.....it's a wonderful performance with the Vienna Philharmonic--- lyrical, noble and dramatic.
He was also the conductor of the historic Georg Kulenkampf recording of Schumann's Violin Concerto in Berlin, 1938.
A brilliant conductor!
