Mitropoulos: New semi-private CD on Nickson

Post by Lance » Sun May 21, 2006 7:35 pm

Just want to let Dimitri Mitropoulos fans know that Nickson Records has produced yet another CD in their huge series of recordings that have long been unavailable, most of which are live performance recordings.

Nickson 05200601 comes in at 72:51 and contains Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10 in E Minor, Op. 93, recorded in 1956 (w/NYP), a live performance of Mozart's Divertimento No. 2 in D Major, K. 131 (w/NYP), recoreded in 1957, and a bonus of the two Entr'actes from Mozart's Thamos, King of Egypt, recorded with the Minneapolis SO in 1940.

I had the pleasure of designing the CD graphics and layout and also wrote the notes for the CD.

Anybody interested can contact me for information on how and where to acquire this. An extremely limited edition for Mitropoulos fans.

When she started to play, Mr. Steinway came down and personally
rubbed his name off the piano. [Speaking about pianist &*$#@+#]
