A performance by Cheryl Studer in northern Spain was canceled after the American-born soprano suffered a mild heart attack, according to a published report.
Local newspaper Diario de Leon reported Monday that Studer had received rapid medical attention and was diagnosed as having suffered a mild heart attack.
She had been scheduled to perform Friday at the Auditorium of the City of Leon. On its Web site, the Auditorium said her appearance was postponed until further notice.
Studer, 50, is a Wagner specialist. She has been much in demand in recent years, particularly in the roles of Elsa in "Lohengrin" and Elisabeth in "Tannhauser."
She will need about three months of rest and recuperation, according to press reports, and the Auditorium has been looking at the possibility of rescheduling her performance sometime after January.
