"A Godly Hero"

Post by Ralph » Wed May 10, 2006 6:36 am

Michael Kazin's new biography of William Jennings Bryan is outstanding. A portrait of a fascinating and much misunderstood man, Bryan deserves to be known for more than the foolish performance he gave at the Scopes "Monkey" trial. Kazin gives sharp insights into American Progressivism and his book is as much a picture of an age as of a man.

When shall we have a new champion to lead the fight for bimetallism? The dream shall never die!
"The law isn't justice. It's a very imperfect mechanism. If you press exactly the right buttons and are also lucky, justice may show up in the answer. A mechanism is all the law was ever intended to be." - Raymond Chandler
