Bush's plan is all coming into place. First the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan to seize oil reserves for Haliburton, The Carlysle Group and his other energy industry cronies. Then the bombing of these countries sets off a reverberation in the Earth's crust that spawns the earthquake & tsunami in SE Asia, obliterating the energy infrastructure in Banda Aceh to further prop up energy prices. Then by removing environmental regulations to speed up global warming, Bush triggers Katrina to demolish most of the Gulf Coast's energy infrastructure (note how suspiciously Texas was spared). Looks like W's plan for world domination and oil riches is proceeding swimmingly. Oh by the way despite all of this, Bush is an idiot who cannot tie his own shoes or string a coherent sentence together.

Cutting his month-long vacation short by a whopping two days. Now there's a news story! This guy is in trouble. Lucky for him he's already won every election he was eligable to run in.

Yes yes, lucky for him.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

Every election he's eligible to run for? Well, the second President Bush may or may not know that the second President Adams spent his last years in the House of Representatives. He actually died there at age 80. Plus, they have so much in common! After all, Adams was an intellectual, a linguist who wrote poetry and translated literature from other languages into English, etc., etc. And does anyone else remember those happy, carefree photos of father and son on the golf course with caps reading "Adams 2" and "Adams 6?"

Donald,
I'm aware that technically, Bush can run for other offices after he leaves the White House. But does anyone think he will? I was just using a bit of sarcasm in response to another of Lilith's worthless posts.

Plus both Bush and Adams were staunchly proud of their New England heritage.

"Cutting his month-long vacation short by a whopping two days" Barry

My point Barry was that he should have cut it short as soon as this hurricane situation was apparent. Obviously, he recognized my point, a little bit late.
Now I suppose all those who were so critical of me in the Mr. Magoo Stays on Vacation thread will be eating crow and making apologies. I'm sure I'll be waiting a century before people like Ted or Kevin admit they were wrong. As long as that thread stays up though, it will be obvious.

I don't think Bush will be even slightly interested in any office after he leaves the White House. Only Taft was and he realized his life's dream to join the Supreme Court. "Mooseport," a silly, poor flick, was fantasy.

Why do you think you’re owed an apology?
Why don’t you owe President Magoo an apology?
You said he should be in your hometown….Washington DC that is
Well, there he is, the very next day

I do not think I am 'owed' anything. However, people that have been as pathetically wrong as you were on this issue, might want to admit it and move on. After all, Ted, its only a Posting Board - its not the end of life.
Just because you said I was a fool to criticize Bush for not cutting short his vacation, doesn't mean you will be wrong on everthing Ted. It just looks rather bad that Bush announces right after your post, that he is cutting short his vacation to return to Washington DC. It looks bad for you, Ted.
It looks like you were wrong and the your posts are right here to prove it.

Is that related to the fact that his father, unlike him a serious career public servant, was once Ambassador to the UN?

Just because you said I was a fool to criticize Bush for not cutting short his vacation,
Not quite
What I objected to was your trivializing the wrath of Katrina by turning it into a political matter— As I mentioned I’m the first to criticize Bush, but if you had your way, you’d blame the weather on him
Not to mention “I’m not in the business of being fair” You see where that comment got you
However, if you want me to give you credit for Bush’s speedy return, you’ve got it
